DFA are a telecommunications company who have been laying down fibre-optic cables throughout SA. They gathered for their 10th-anniversary celebration. After a couple of speeches, the party started with the electro-funk band Goodluck.

I was excited to be asked to shoot an event for Google, and then my smile turned upside down when Siyabonga Cwele began speaking. It became informative when he gave way to the other speakers who presented Google's global operations and digital marketing strategies.

I was on my way out the door to another photo shoot when the phone rang. It was a chap who asked me to stop in at Gateway Shopping Centre and take some photos of his retail cart. Coincidentally, it was in the same area that I was already going so I was able to do both shoots in one trip.

Hendricks Gin sponsored an event at the Two Acres Tea Room, and they hired me to take some photos of it before it was occupied. They did a great job with the décor, which ended up being a lot for me to shoot.

Del Coursy is an established jewellery brand for which I do regular photo shoots. They have physical stores but their main sales tool is their website, so they put a lot of emphasis on making sure they’re happy with the photos.

I was in and out of the FWJK offices so quickly that I realised when I got home that I’d spent more time travelling there and back than the actual shoot took. FWJK are an architecture firm and needed some headshots for their website.

Regal Meats needed some updated company photos. I started with headshots of the staff and then moved on to the general photos around the business, ending with a big group photo of all the staff in front of the trucks.

Del Coursy has got an e-commerce website and needed product images for it. They hired me to do the packshots as well as some models wearing the jewellery. It was a really fun day in studio.

The BP annual prize-giving was a small event that took place at the Elangeni Hotel. It was attended by franchisees from all over the province. There was also a marketing update and a Q&A.

I took a drive out to Tugela for the Autotronix photo shoot. They do all the electronics and automation for the water plant there. They were clearly very proud of their work because they were all smiling from ear to ear the whole day. It was great to get a glimpse at something I knew nothing about before.
